
On 1st June 2007, the Leisure Division of the local authority, known as Derwentside Leisure Services, merged with the District's existing Leisure Trust, Derwentside Leisure Ltd., to form a new Independent Provident Society registered as: DERWENTSIDE TRUST FOR SPORT & THE ARTS (Reg. IPS No. 30177R) trading as LEISUREWORKS.
As Leisureworks, the new organisation is responsible for the operation of activities in the following facilities:

Leisureworks also co-ordinates:
Sports & Arts Management, Children's Holiday Programmes; Park's Activities & Events, Sports Development; Swimming Development, Community Sports Opportunities; Arts Development, GP Referrals; Healthy Lifestyles, the Try Five Project and Leisure Marketing, and continues to develop long established links with schools, youth groups, clubs and other community sports and arts organisations.
