Empire Theatre & Cinema - Venue Info

Auditorium
Having undergone complete modernisation in 2003, the venue still retains its Victorian charm accommodating a comfortable and plush auditorium with circle, that together seat 500+.  The space is available for hire and as a superior purpose built entertainment venue complete with dressing rooms and free car parking nearby, is competitively priced against neighbouring facilities of a similar standard

Bar and Cafe
Included in the 2003 update was the relocation of the licensed bar to the rear of the ground floor foyer.  Offering a modern, clean, air-conditioned and friendly service area, the bar doubles as a cafe servery from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday to Saturday.  A portico extension to the front of the building, forms a light and airy space onto the front street giving customers the opportunity to sit back and enjoy the comings and goings of town centre life.

Being licensed and with catering easily arranged, at specific times of the day and week, the theatre's ground floor cafe/bar/foyer area has become popular as a party/presentation venue in its own right.  The space comfortably accommodating 50 -60 offers a small, bright, easily accessible and upmarket option for Sunday Christenings, anniversary teas, and small business related activities and special events.

Ardath Room
The theatre has a small modern first floor meeting room/hospitality suite that can accommodate a maximum of 12 people seated and up to 20 people standing.  Catering can be arranged to offer everything from a business lunch to a champagne reception... in conjunction with the show of your choice.

Disability
The Empire offers excellent access for people with a disability, especially those that are wheelchair bound. The ground floor is ramped in the relevant places. We have space for 6 dedicated wheelchair users and their carers; attending free on production of a Cinema Exhibitors Association Card (CEA Card; please ask at the Box Office for further information or access the website http://www.ceacard.co.uk/). A disabled toilet is based in the foyer area of the venue. A hearing loop is also available in the main auditorium for patrons who have a hearing aid - a hearing loop unit must be requested from the Empire Box Office.
